Australian based artist, Mala Says, uses photography to explore the intersection between nature and mysticism.
Her painterly process treats the photograph as a digital canvas, which is transformed into new landscapes and abstracted realms through layers of technical processing.

Mala’s exploration into esoteric concepts stems from a broader interest into the mechanics
of the world - namely the beliefs that shape and animate it. As many of these notions historically intertwine with natural
phenomena, this informs her practice with an expansive and rich repository for artistic exploration.

“My process is one of healing.
As humans ‘being’ - a verb that implies transience - we are constantly changing and growing,
even if one does not feel it.
Whilst this process can be challenging at times, I believe in its inherent beauty as a life well lived is a life of change.

The photograph, which is emblematic of a static moment - what does it become once that moment shifts?
What does it mean when a photograph transitions from its original intention and capture, into something entirely new - unrecognisable from its original state?
This is a potential I constantly explore, which I hope offers healing and encouragement to those who are on such a journey too.”
